Between August (week 31) and October (week 41), in what is called early harvest, Argentina is the leading country in blueberry production.

In that window, and according to information provided by the firms National Health Service and Food Quality ofArgentina (SENASA), the country exported 3,950 tons of fresh blueberries during the present season.
In the same period, South American supply -Chile, Peru and Argentina- totaled 4,731 tons, where the latter represents more than 80%, reflecting the position of Argentina in this window.
“Argentina achieved this milestone after a strong investment in varietal replacement that began more than six years ago, planting early varieties as Snowchaser, Sapphire, Emerald, and Springhigh, positioning itself as the provider of early blueberries by nature” comment from the Argentinean Blueberry Committee (ABC) to Portalfruticola.com.
“Growth prospects are encouraging, considering that since 2011 to this part the country achieved a 200% increase in volume of early fruit to different markets,” the association says.
