The producers that make up the Argentinian Blueberry Committee (ABC) will participate in the “MESA de Primavera” (“Spring MESA”) cycle, which will lead to the product being included in menus as a seasonal fruit in the gastronomic week organised from 4 to 9 October.

“For us, it is fundamental to participate in this promotional action, because it is allowing us to join efforts in our plan to give a boost to a local product that has multiple uses and healthy benefits for the consumer,” stated Federico Bayá, President of ABC.

he so-called M.E.S.A cycle (Seasonal Menus with Flavours of Argentina) is carried out by A.C.E.L.G.A (Association of Argentinian Cooks and Entrepreneurs linked to Argentinian Gastronomy) and seeks to encourage the consumption of local seasonal products.

Moreover, this has been organised just before the National Blueberry Week (from 9 to 15 October), because October is the month with the greatest production. “We are organising the ‘Best with blueberries’ campaign in the framework of the ‘More fruits and vegetables’ program, supported by the Ministry of Agroindustry, convinced that our country has the potential to boost consumption and bring blueberries to the tables of Argentinians,” assured Baya.

“Blueberries are a super food that, besides being low in fat, have a high content of fibre and essential nutrients, such as antioxidants, vitamin C and magnesium.”

Some of the dishes that will be presented during the week will include blueberry chutney, grilled pork sirloin with blueberry sauce, and desserts such as yoghurt mousse with blueberries and lemon and blueberry pudding.
