From the beginning of this week the rising price trend in the Ukrainian market has changed into a negative one for blueberries; the berry has become cheaper by 10-15%.

Farmers explain the low prices are due to the decline in demand from exporters, while the supply volume is still increasing every day, according to “APK- Іnform: Vegetables and Fruits”.

Just last week, the recorded price of blueberries at the market grew to 5.80-6.70 euros a kilo. As of 15 July, the real price seen on internal markets is between 5.00-5.80 euros a kilo.

Experts believe that the negative trend in the Ukrainian market was triggered by lower prices in Russia, where Ukrainian farmers regularly ship berries. At the beginning of the week it was reported that because of the influx of imports to Russia, blueberries cheapened significantly. 

It should be noted that Ukrainian blueberries today cost 35-40% more than last year. However farmers are certain that berry prices will continue to drop up until August, but the intensity of the price drop directly depends on the exporters’ activities and their prices.
