”We know that the Argentinean Blueberry is an attractive product in the Chinese market for its sweet flavor which is our differential contribution and in this sense we aim at providing a high quality product”.

Today, the Argentinean Blueberry Committee (ABC) led by Federico Bayá, expressed its satisfaction with the market opening for fresh blueberries to China after the authorization of the Asian country, following the positive results achieved by the audit carried out by a Chinese delegation from September 15 to 25 this year.

“We are extremely happy because this market opening is the result of coordinated efforts with the State and public-private sector over time, to reach a market with great potential, and this represents a huge opportunity for our sector. We know that the Argentine Blueberry is an attractive product in the Chinese market for its acidic and sweet flavor which is our differential contribution and in this sense we aim at providing a high quality product”, said Bayá.

“At the beginning, we expect low volume export to China, having into account that the opening of the market takes place when the blueberry season has already started and import duty tariffs are 30 percent, so we will have to work firmly on quality in order to be competitive in a market where supply is high”, said the President of ABC.

In turn, ABC has informed that 95% of the total production of Argentine blueberry is exported in fresh and that 2% approximately is for local consumption in fresh, the remaining 3% is for the industry to produce juice, jams and frozen products for ice-cream, yogurt and confectionery.

It is important to highlight that the “Blueberry Week” is being successfully carried out in Argentina until November 4, within the framework of the campaign “Better with Blueberries” that promotes local consumption and the incorporation of blueberries in the diet of Argentine people.
