“The world has a blueberry production that reaches 651,000 tons. Consulted about the demand and production at global level, David pointed out the development of the Chilean industry, with an interesting and intelligent maturity at the time of establishing the opening of markets, thanks to the chance of relying on relevant equipment which favors the conservation of fresh fruit and its arrival to distant markets, companies fully enabled in matters of exports and the achieved quality variety replacement. However, he states that this boom of the Chilean industry is stationed.
Dave Brazelton underlines that the chance of Argentina is good and positive. Thanks to the renewal of varieties they have managed, it offers huge possibilities to capture new markets. They will have to see to the logistic and transport situation to achieve adequate and satisfactory exports.
In connection to the rest of the producing countries, Brazelton expresses that the United States concentrate most of its production in the northeast of the country and underscores the drop of production in the State of Florida during last year, referring to the increase of stockpiling of fruit in the cold, which fosters, on the one hand, a decrease in prices, but an increase in the consumption on the other hand.
The American specialist asserts that Mexico and Australia are producing countries which experience a remarkable growth, recording a 50% increase. The latter with quality in first level fresh fruit and with the chance, just like Peru and China of being a supplier year-round.
“The growth in the production in Europa is remarkable, especially in Spain” David points out “and in Africa the productive growth of South Africa and Morocco.”
As regards the development of marketing, Brazelton considers that it is essential to sharpen inventiveness to generate actions in order to increase the demand, putting special attention and care to quality. ”The original and practical presentation of the product pointing out its features and benefits for the health and the alternatives of online commerce must be put into value” he affirmed.
